Friday Featured Artist: Dave MacDowell

David MacDowell is a self-taught artist who paints with acrylics on canvas.

His subject matter focuses on the Lowbrow/ Comic Surrealism, and often take a satirical view of popular culture. His works can be seen in galleries throughout the US; including Thinkspace, Gallery1988LA/Gallery1988SF, and Distinction Gallery in CA.

ABOUT THE WRITER

Hannah Serrano
did not go to journalism school. She studied art history rather. She was born in the Philippines, raised in Virginia Beach, and always loved words more than pictures but had a feeling she might be bad with deadlines. Nevertheless, after university Serrano moved back to the area and eventually became the Arts & Culture Editor at Port Folio Weekly.
