Loer Velocity Is Uninfatuated

Look at that mug!

Look at that mug!

Look at that mug! You see a purpose driven man of scrunched features who has been through some things. That, ladies and Germans, is Loer Velocity, an overlooked and over-talented emcee who has already put out quite a few nuggets on Embedded Music, the unofficial minor league Def Jux team led by DJ Ese. Recently, in honor of Globochem Prove Your Love With Money (better known as Valentine’s) Day, he proved his love to the internet world with the charming, and free, Uninfatuated EP.uninfatuated-ep-cover

Despite the title, Uninfatuated is not a bitter pill of bile and heartbreak. The production is a sweetly saturated mix that mixes tender sample tapestry with tight but non-insistent percussive arrangement. The ghosts of romantic infatuation linger in the background, but are more cut up and rationally arranged to reflect the mindstate of the reflector, able to arrange his thoughts on old loves analytically but still carrying the nostalgia of the the warmth relationships generated when working. More than a Valentines gimmick promo, this is a fine mini-cycle that should sit well with listeners who, like me, were without a current paramour for the corporate love parade. This made me feel better, not just about my current plight, but also past entanglements that still carry a sting. Listen and fall into the good times without discounting the bad…or the aftermath.

ABOUT THE WRITER

George Booker is writing this about himself in the third person. He was considering second person, maybe making this the "Bright Lights, Big City" of bios. He was looking into casting Micheal J. Fox in the forthcoming film adaptation, as the disabled actor would likely portray him with ample charm, sympathy, and fifty-something boyish handsomeness. Recently, however, Booker has realized that only Anne Hathaway or Chiwetel Ejiofor could really capture his essence. Late 20s, Norfolk raised music writer. Former DJ and production head for WVFS Tallahassee, former staff clerk at defunct Norfolk music stores DJ's and Relative Theory. Current Film Editor and Contributor to No Ripcord Magazine, contributed blurbs to Link and Port Folio Magazine.
